In one hour we will begin our return trip to Canada.  It will be a 17 hour marathon before we grace the door at Laughing Raven Farm and introduce Noah to his new home.  We can’t wait to see all the family and friends whose kind words have supported us for the past 64 days.  From ‘looking after the pigs’ to assembling Noah’s crib there has been a tremendous amount of work to keep the home fires burning.  Look forward to properly hugging you all for the help.

Despite how badly we are excited to be home, it will be bittersweet to leave Japan.  Meghan and I discussed our best memories of the trip last night and the list was long (with all of them playing a distant second to the obvious one!).  We saw, tasted, and learned many things that will leave us with a warm impression of Tokyo.  And of course there are many people that we met who have become good friends along the way.

Noah has not been feeling well for the past two days so I predict the trip may not be entirely easy.  But home is on the other end so that will keep us going.  So off we go.  Sayonara Tokyo.

Road trip Soundtrack

So every good road trip deserves a selection of tunes to carry you through the miles and provide reminders of all the good memories.  It has been about a year since I discovered the Coldplay song, Lovers in Japan.  The version I found felt like it was our story as it was unfolding.  It is now about 2:00 am and Noah is not going to sleep.  It now seems like Katy Perry, Wide Awake is now more our song!  Nonetheless, with the time allowed (aloud?) Noah and I thought we would put together a mixed tape to remember our trip by.  Dedicated to his Mama, SIDE ONE is:

Lovers in Japan, Coldplay

Baby Love, The Supremes

I’m so Happy I Can’t Stop Crying, Toby Keith (this has double meaning)

Better When We’re Together, Jack Johnson

Turning Japanese, The Vapors

And the party side, SIDE TWO:

Old MacDonald Has a Farm, various

Baby I Love your Way, Peter Frampton

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto, The Styx

Baby Got Back, Sir Mixalot (Noah endorsed this.  He is proud to be chubby)

Tokyo Rose, Shok Paris

Wide Awake, Katy Perry

There is still a little room on Side Two.  Let me know if you have any good suggestions to add!
